The Salvation Army of
Montclair has serviced the community since 1891. It sponsors
a number of different programs, including a lunch program,
shower program, shelter program, and soup kitchen. They also
host holiday meals for the needy. In 2007, the Salvation
Army of Montclair served and delivered over 1,050 hot
dinners at their Thanksgiving Day meal. Many people
volunteer their time and effort to provide these meals. Miss
Mirenda and her mother have volunteered there for a few
years now and find it very rewarding helping those less
fortunate. On Thanksgiving morning they, along with sixth
grader Catherine Tyndall, and Emma and Ian Robson (grades 1
and 3) and family decorated the room for the holiday feast.
Decorations were made by grades K, 1, 2, 3 and 4. The entire
first grade made turkey centerpieces for the tables.
Generous first grade families donated food items to fill the
little turkeys used in the food bank.
Thanks to the wonderful
children at Trinity for brightening the day of people in the
community! |
