Catholic Schools Week 2012

Faith- Academics -Service

Our FAITH is our cornerstone. The week began Sunday with parish celebrations at Saint Aloysius Church, Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church and Notre Dame Church, our three co-sponsoring, very supportive parishes.  A Prayer Service and the distribution of Class Rings to our Class of 2012 students followed on Monday.  A special prayer was recited all week celebrating Catholic Schools. The week concluded with First Friday Mass at Saint Aloysius Church.

Trinity Academy’s ACADEMIC program is superior.  Students thrive in post- elementary educational settings and credit the foundations set at Trinity as the reason for their many successes.  Academic Competitive Bowls, Wii Competitions, Spelling Bees, and “When I Grow Up Presentations,”  were just a few of the many academic and enjoyable activities that took place during the week.

Trinity Academy has spent 20+ years in SERVICE to the local community. This Catholic School’s Week was no exception.  The students were, as always, extremely generous with their time, talents and treasure.  Projects included:

  • A coat drive yielded over 200 new or slightly used coats that were immediately distributed to those in need in New York City.

  •  Over 50 bags and boxes of food were collected and fill the Saint Aloysius food panty.

  •   Our Builder’s Club students purchased the items for and made over 300 bologna sandwiches for a soup kitchen in Newark.

  •  Students also donated items to create many “Birthday in a Bags” to be distributed at a Women’s Shelter.  These bags are available for families who seek emergency shelter for safety during a time when a child would be celebrating a birthday.

  •  Each student also donated a box of tissues for our “Sniffles for Seniors” project.  The boxes, along with a note of encouragement for long winter months, were sent to the Monsignor Kelly residence and the Caldwell Senior Citizen Center.

  •   Students donated  a different denomination of change each day for our “Change for Changing” Some of our 8th grade students then cashed in the change at Valley National Bank and  went to Jack’s Supermarket to purchase diapers and other changing supplies.  Over $1,200.00 was collected and the changing items will be donated to a local food pantry.

  • Students also made “Valentine’s for Veterans.” A representative from Congressman Frelinghuysen’s office picked up the cards which will be distributed to local veterans.

  • Students participated in a “Super, Cereal Bowl.”  All students who donated a box of cereal for the food pantry were able to wear their favorite sport’s team  apparel the Monday following the Super Bowl.  NY Giant apparel was the most popular!

Trinity Teams Undefeated!

Two Trinity Academy soccer teams recently completed undefeated seasons. Congratulations to The Trinity United 1st and 2nd grade boys team and the Trinity Spain 3rd and 4th grade girls team.
